Every Tuesday at 2:30 PM, Boulder Feet Forward hosts our flagship Outreach event in the Boulder's Central Park. Since 2020, this event has supplied a nutritious meal including a full serving of protein and vegetables, as well as snacks to go, water, and personal care and basic first aid and sexual health supplies. With help from our wonderful volunteers and groups from throughout the community, we are able to offer a second meal to take for later, pet care supplies and food, as well as clothing, socks, shoes, gear, and a device charging station.
Our goal for this event is not just that our unhoused neighbors eat a wholesome meal, although that's good enough for us. We aim to create a welcoming space where people can have as many needs met as possible in one place. Tuesdays in the Park is a gathering for our partner providers from Focus ReEntry, Community Court, Recovery Café TGTHR Youth Shelters, Mental Health Partners, and others to connect with clients. Our Tuesday event proudly hosts the Works team from Boulder County Public Health, providing harm reduction and safe use supplies as well as wound care kits. We often host guest tables so our constituents can learn more about and access services from such agencies as SPAN, Urban Peak, and more. Our resource navigators are on site to help answer questions and offer referrals, and are equipped to provide Coordinated Entry and housing assessments.
Each week we reach about 85 individuals with this event.
Tuesdays in the Park is more than just a distribution; not only can folks stock up on supplies, here, our community can expect to find real connection, and get help the help they need to build a path to stability.
We launched Friday Breakfast Club in 2024, providing coffee and breakfast sandwiches every Friday at 11:00 AM from our location in Central Park. Since then, the event has grown to include our community partners and volunteer groups to add a lunch for later, fresh fruit and snacks, and clothing, gear, socks, and a charging station, as well as our usual offerings of hygiene items.
We hold this event earlier in day as a segue to continued participation; directly following Friday Breakfast Club, we offer drop-in hours for our clients to work with us from where they are, whether to progress their case management, troubleshoot an emergent issue, or simply to talk as peers.
With generous help from volunteer community experts, our Fridays meals are often followed by workshops or special events; we've hosted the ACLU to provide a Know Your Rights Talk, as well as Yoga, poetry, and Art workshops, board games days and tournaments, yard games, and free movies from the Boulder Public Library.
As with Tuesdays in the Park, we aim not just to feed folks, but to bring our unhoused neighbors into the broader community with zero-barrier opportunities for educational, entertainment, self-care, and self-expression activities.
Boulder Feet Forward Recognizes that any journey toward holistic stability must include bolstering all dimensions of wellness: not just physical but social, emotional, and intellectual. We leverage connections with generous folks from the community who volunteer to join their skills with our mission to meet people where they are.
